Journal History
Al-Majaalis: Jurnal Dirasat Islamiyah was established in 2013 under the auspices of Sekolah Tinggi Dirasat Islamiyah (STDI) Imam Syafi’i Jember. Since its inception, Al-Majaalis has focused its intellectual scope on Fiqh, Hadith, Aqidah, and the Qur’an. Initially distributed in printed form, the journal began its digital transformation in 2015 by adopting Open Journal Systems (OJS) version 3.0. In 2017, it was upgraded to OJS 3.1.0.0 to enhance editorial workflow efficiency, and adopted a bright green-yellow cover symbolising scholarly renewal.
In 2020, Al-Majaalis introduced a more refined and modern cover design in Volume 8, Issue 1, showcasing a white and green palette accented with Islamic geometric motifs. This visual transformation not only reflected an aesthetic maturity but also marked significant editorial improvements, culminating in the journal receiving SINTA 4 national accreditation in the same year. To further optimise metadata quality, Al-Majaalis migrated to OJS version 3.3.0.7 in 2021. The journal continued its quality improvement efforts and was awarded SINTA 3 accreditation in 2022, valid until 2027.
In its pursuit of international scholarly standards, the journal transitioned to English as its primary language of publication while maintaining its biannual release schedule in May and November. Currently, Al-Majaalis: Jurnal Dirasat Islamiyah is preparing for re-accreditation aiming for SINTA 2, while also seeking inclusion in international indexing platforms. These initiatives are supported by ongoing editorial enhancements, international collaboration, and a firm commitment to publication ethics.
