Among the prolific Indonesian scholars who have produced a wide range of written works—particularly in the fields of hadith studies and the jurisprudence of hadith—is Muhammad Syuhudi Ismail. His thoughts have been widely examined by academics across various universities in Indonesia. This study aims to explore the ideas put forth by Syuhudi, especially in the area of hadith jurisprudence, as scattered throughout his various works. The research employs a qualitative method, which emphasizes in-depth data analysis to achieve a high-quality outcome. Accordingly, this study relies on descriptive presentation of words and sentences arranged meticulously, beginning with data collection, followed by interpretation, and culminating in the reporting of findings. This study is categorized as library research. The findings reveal that his views do not significantly differ from other Islamic scholars in the field of hadith. However, his perspective on the concept of ‘adālah al-ṣaḥābah (the moral integrity of the Companions) requires re-examination, as there are a few Companions who have been critiqued (majrūḥ) in terms of their religious integrity. In relation to the jurisprudence of hadith, it is essential to understand hadiths within their proper context, as not all hadiths are universal in nature. Some are temporal and local, a distinction that can be identified through various analytical lenses, particularly by examining the asbāb al-wurūd (context of narration).
