Publication Ethics
Al-Khabar: Journal of Hadith Transmission Studies is a national scholarly journal published biannually (February and August), in both print and online formats, by the Hadith Studies Program of STDI Imam Shafi’i Jember. This statement outlines the ethical standards expected of all parties involved in the publication process of this journal, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. These guidelines are based on the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Publisher's Responsibilities
As the publisher of Al-Khabar, the Hadith Studies Program at STDI Imam Shafi’i Jember is fully committed to ensuring that the entire publishing process is carried out professionally, ethically, and responsibly. The publisher guarantees that editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests and is prepared to facilitate communication between editors and other relevant parties when necessary to maintain academic integrity.
Editor’s Responsibilities

Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for determining which articles are suitable for publication based on scholarly merit, contribution to the field, and content validity. Editors may consult with peer reviewers or other editorial board members in making their decisions.

Fairness: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, belief, nationality, or political orientation.

Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must keep all manuscript-related information confidential and must not disclose it to anyone other than those directly involved in the publication process.

Conflicts of Interest: Any information obtained from submitted manuscripts must not be used for personal gain without written consent from the author.
Reviewer’s Responsibilities

Contribution to Editorial Decision: Reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and provide constructive feedback to improve the manuscript.

Competence and Timeliness: If a reviewer feels unqualified to evaluate a manuscript or cannot complete the review on time, they should inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.

Confidentiality: All reviewed manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents and should not be shared or discussed with others without permission.

Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the author. Comments should be clearly expressed and supported by reasoned arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant works not cited by the author. If plagiarism or substantial similarity is suspected, it must be reported to the editor.

Author’s Responsibilities

Reporting Standards: Authors must provide accurate, complete, and scientifically accountable reports of their research.

Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. If using others’ ideas or words, proper citation must be provided.

Multiple Submissions: The same manuscript must not be submitted to or published in more than one journal simultaneously.

Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must properly cite all sources that significantly influenced their work.

Authorship: Only individuals who made significant contributions to the research and writing should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final version before submission.

Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could affect the results or interpretation of the manuscript.

Errors in Published Works: If an author discovers a significant error in a published article, they must promptly notify the editor to issue a correction or retraction.
