Publication Ethics
Al-Majaalis: Jurnal Dirasat Islamiyah is an academic journal published biannually by Sekolah Tinggi Dirasat Islamiyah (STDI) Imam Syafi’i Jember, Indonesia. This publication ethics statement is established to ensure the integrity of the editorial process and to uphold the quality of academic work in the field of Islamic studies.
The editors of Al-Majaalis: Jurnal Dirasat Islamiyah are responsible for deciding which articles to publish based on their intellectual merit, significance, and relevance to the journal’s focus. Decisions are made objectively and are guided by a clear and transparent review process. The Editor-in-Chief may seek input from the editorial board, reviewers, and subject experts to inform publication decisions. All decisions must comply with legal and ethical standards, including those related to defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, ethnic origin, nationality, or the authors’ background.
Editors and the editorial board must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts are only shared with relevant parties, such as potential reviewers, reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher.
Editors must not use unpublished material from submitted manuscripts without the author’s explicit consent. Editors must also avoid conflicts of interest related to personal relationships or financial interests.
Authors must produce articles that are accurate, objective, and honest, ensuring that all data used is correct. Manuscripts should be presented in detail and supported by sufficient references. Deliberate data manipulation or the use of invalid data is considered unethical.
Authors must ensure that their work is original and that any ideas or words from others are properly cited and referenced in footnotes. All forms of plagiarism are considered unethical and unacceptable.
Authors must avoid submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same work to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
Authors must properly acknowledge the work of others that is cited in the manuscript. Every quotation from another work must be properly referenced in the footnotes.
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the writing of the manuscript. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission.
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their submitted manuscript, they must promptly notify the editor to arrange for a correction.
Any violation of publication ethics—such as fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or citation manipulation—will be thoroughly investigated. In proven cases of misconduct, the journal may issue corrections, retract the manuscript, or replace the article. The decision to correct or retract a manuscript is made by the editorial board after consultation with the author and other relevant parties.
Al-Majaalis: Jurnal Dirasat Islamiyah is committed to upholding ethical standards in scholarly publication. By adhering to this publication ethics policy, Al-Majaalis demonstrates its dedication to integrity in scholarly communication and provides a credible platform for the advancement of Islamic studies globally.
